Akbar took care of most of his enemies after 1560, and greatly extended the empire by conquering central and northern Hindustan. Usually when an empire is extended so far, it is hard to maintain contact with the empire, but Akbar's social politics and administrative genius that helped establish a long lasting empire.
Once the presence of the Portuguese was becoming noticeable, they decided to attack the Mughal Empire, but all they needed was a glimpse of the power of the empire to change their minds. Akbar used rockets, cannons and war elephants in his various battles, including the Second Battle of Panipat.
Akbar made sure to include Hindus in his administration process. He put Hindu princes high up in the bureaucracy, and ended the ban on the building of Hindu temples and ordered the Muslim to respect cows, which Hindus viewed as sacred. Tansen, a Hindu, was the most favored musician in Akbar's court. Birbal, a Hindu, was Akbar's grand Vizier, or administrator, and also a close friend of his. In taking such extreme measures, he strengthened the bond with some of his closest allies, princes of the rajput kingdom.
